By binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, Ledercillin Vk inhibits the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cell lysis is then mediated by bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes such as autolysins; it is possible that Ledercillin Vk interferes with an autolysin inhibitor.

Ledercillin Vk potassium is an antibiotic used to treat a variety of infections, most notably strep throat. This drug is also used to prevent infections (bacterial endocarditis) in patients with congenital heart disease or rheumatic or other acquired valvular heart disease. Penicillin is taken before dental procedures and surgical procedures in these patients. This drug should not be used by those with allergies to penicillin and you should consult with your pharmacist or physician if you are allergic to penicillin before taking this medication. The most common side effects from penicillin include: nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, and diarrhea. Because this medication is used to treat infections, it should be taken as prescribed.
